So as the title says, i want to add a Six Line Wrasse and a Flame Angelfish, but i'm not sure as to which one to add first. I've read and have been told that the Flame Angel should be the last fish to add to the tank, but then i've also read that the Six Line might become aggressive with fish that have been introduced after him. So who should go into the tank first?

it depends really .. its hit or misss .. my sixline was my first fish in the tank .. he was cool with most of the fish .. but he wasnt happy about the psuedochromis and clownfish .. but all the other fish he was cool with. i actually wanna get a flame angel as well .. so we'll see what happens.

My flame was the first fish in my tank as a tiny juvenile. As I've added others, no matter what, he gets a bit aggressive for a day - not really biting but just a bit pushy. Then after a day, he backs off. Be careful, though, as some flames are coral nippers. Mine will take swipes at my mushrooms and or zoas from time to time - it just depends on the particular flame from what i understand - luck of the draw.

I agree, Neither. Flame angel MAY nip at corals and clams and that 6 line MAY kill inverts and terrorize your other fish as they MAY get nasty.

But as Deanos says:

The only predictable fish is a dead one!

I appreciate the help guys!
I've done a lot of research on both of them, and i know that the flame angel might go after some corals and that the six line might get nasty with my other fish, but it's also true that every fish is different.
So i will most likely add the six line first, and then add the flame angel. I also have a bucket full of rock that's being cured as we speak, so i'm thinking that when i put the six line, or maybe a couple days later, to add that rock in hopes that if he does get nasty, that might confuse him a little bit, but we'll see!

I also want to mention that this will be my last fish to add into my tank. Once they have been added, i will have 6 in a 46 gallon bow front.
By the time they go in, the tank will be at about 7-8 months running. My parameters have been really stable for the past couple months, except phosphate, but that has been brought down to about 0.5 since adding the TLF Phosban Reactor.

:sigh:

You've been warned.......

Thank you "DevIouS" and like i said, i really did my research on them. The kind of corals that the flame angel tends to go after, i really don't have that many, basically just one mushroom and a couple zoas that came with some of the rock. I also tend to be stubborn like that, but i'm taking all the things that have been mentioned and re-thinking as if i want them or not.
Thank you once again!

I've had both of these fish in my reef tank (with zoas) at the same time with no real problems. The only "issues" I had (if you can even call them that) is that the Six Line would eat smaller shrimp (so I just made sure I didn't add anything less than 2") and the Flame would occasionally chase other fish. He never killed or hurt anybody. If you are going to do this, personally I'd add the Flame last. Hey, if it doesn't work out, you can always remove them to another tank.

bluSi4, i've owned small specimens of both fish at one point or another but never together.

i'd just like to say that after purchasing the six-line wrasse (which did a good job of killing off my flatworm population) i didn't find them to be that interesting, or pretty, compared to the other wrasses out there. and like other people have said, you can't get another wrasse after you get a six-line. why get an aggressive, so-so looking fish, when you could save up and get other peaceful and more colorful wrasse that allows for adding additional wrasses in the future? That's just my opinion

as for the the flame angel, it's a hit or miss with their temperament.

however, i would really reconsider the purchase of the six-line.

I learned this the hardway. I went angel crazy and they destroyed all the zoas and other corals I had the tank. As far as for the six line. I have one in a tank I am breaking down and switching, when I finish and if you still have not gotten one. you can have it for FREE. I will never get a six line again!!!
