Can a jaw fish be aggressive?

Hey guys, just curious because I always thought they were peaceful fish, and I just fed my tank I see my sailfin tang eating and swimming around happily, a few moments later I see him go behind the rock where the jaw fish hangs out under and he never came out. Literally a minute later my tang is upside down between the rock dead. I look for marks but didn’t see any. Super weird he was perfectly fine swimming and eating two minutes later dead . The blue spotted jaw fish had to be the culprit. Anyone one else had any aggression ftom

Jawfish can be aggressive if another fish comes near their hole or hiding spot.

Seems weird that it would take out a tang that quickly though, maybe there is another reason?

It’s so weird I checked out my parameters and they are good . Did a water change just in case I was overlooking something, but idk I’ve never had a fish go from looking happy eating, swimming etc to dead literally one min later.
