I don't think the picture is what's is actually forcing the clowns to host, mostly like it is scaring them forcing them to host to be safe. Clownfish use anemones for safety if they don't have any thing to fear they don't need them.

My anemone isnt large enough for the clown to "live" in but I would like the clown to spend some time in the anemone. I'm a try the picture. I'm sure my wife is gonna call me stupid and crazy but she's called me worst.

My clowns hosted a goniopora then my large hammer colony until finally liking my rbta about two months later.
The clowns seem to like it but only host it 1-2 times during the day, usually hang out in it at night.

Just be patient. And since you said you lost a clown, adding a new one to the tank might do the trick. once one hosts the other most likely will too

Clowns

Are your clowns fish captive bred?

In the wild clowns dont exist without anemones. In cases where there is one large haddoni you have harems of clownfish. Ranging from Huge females to juveniles.

Captive bred clowns are bred so succesfully that some clutches of eggs can yeild large numbers, in the wild if you cant find any anemone your dinner.

Congrats with your clowns just keep them fat and happy and your anemone will.
