I thought of this after I posted, I have a melanarius wrasse. It eats anything I offer, very mobile and enjoys eating snails! Just a heads up, I guess some are reef safe with some caution. The first time i was behind my tank and the fish darted toward the sand and was having a snack. Def. A great fish despite losing a snail or two

You may want to look into fairies and flashers...I recently added a Richmond's, a Leopard and a yellow which are all great pest controllers and are alot more peacefull than my sixline, but grow larger. My Richmond's is 5" already and doesn't bother any snails or hermits. I don't know about shrimps because I don't have any with my serpant.

+4 on a Melanarus, or most other Halichoeres wrasses.

IMO/IME Halichoeres' seem to relentlessly peruse rockwork for small things to eat, moreso than true Leopards or Anampses. It's also my opinion that true Leopards and Anampses wrasses are far more fragile than other wrasses, and should be avoided.
