Oddysea MH unit..Do I need to worry

I'd say at least swap out the ballast if you're going to Stay with the cheap fixture.I'd admit I bought one a long time ago and wasn't happy with their hot ballast but eventually bought the Aquatinic fixture.Their newer stuff is better but no comparison to the Brand named stuff.Everyone has a different budget I suppose.

You might want to rethink that comment.. cause I am very sure that if you go praising some of the other lighting companies you will find that many are not UL listed.
Sure maybe they might use an item or 2 that has a UL certification, but like all things I will say that take it with a grain of salt.
I am also sure that everyone that owns or owned an item is not homeless. So you read something on the internet... or better yet... you hear it through a friend who had a friend that had a friend's uncle's brother's girlfriend's sister's cousin... and I'm sure they had an issue with a "Big" named product...
So let's go into truths and lies. Someone owns a Sony or any other big named item. A capacitor goes bad and starts smoking. OMG!!!! Run for the hills Sony is a bad product to own... OMG rumors start spreading that it's not safe to own a Sony product... Mass Hysteria!!!!

Yeah... It's like that. I'll wait for one of anyone's stories about a UL listed product going bad and how you will never buy a UL listed item again.

rethink nothing :cheekkisslook up the fixure see the track recond of fires they have started .........
then spend some time and see if you can find a fire started with an ati fixure ?
they are know to start fires even the company reported that the ballast get to hot and mit start a fire
i am sure they have changed them since then but once again i would not take that change in my house once again this is my opinion

Now please... ummm... Jerry let's once again go back to what you type.

So you say the fixture is a cause of fire. Then you advise to change the ballast.. Please do me a favor and start looking at all the items in your house and I can guarantee that everything you purchase is not UL certified.

Once again it's your opinion and like everyone on this planet has an a-hole you are entitled to it. But to sift through every post on the internet that goes back to a few people because info travels like wildfire would be useless.

So go back to the belief that UL certifications will be the final word on anything. If you know how it works... manufacturers submit 1 item... they test 1 item... they approve 1 item... companies brand that item now as "Certified". You as the end user is blindly led to believe you now get quality items because of this.
