Yes, I have the cone skimmer and it is built like a tank.

how does the build quality feel ? i know ya had the vertex and ya know how i feel about them, so when i look at the in-expensive skimmers ( under 300 ) i look at material ect. does the body feel solid or like ya could crack it squeezing it ?

The Vertex skimmer bodies are very well built. Almost as good as the Warner Marine AS-150. The Octo skimmer body doesn't feel cheap really, but I wouldn't want to drop it from any distance.. it's not as sturdy as the Vertex or Euro Reef, but it's close, IMO. The connections don't feel as sturdy though.

I like the Bubble Blaster pump on the Octo much more than the Resun, and (probably) will like it better than the Sedra. That's a big thing for me.. If the Vertex had a different pump I'd probably buy it again.

you will love how quite and cool the bubble blaster runs.i have the 5000 ext cone and love i had a euroreef before and i find the reef octopus to be made a lot better my skimmer is a tank

Nice skimmer dj ze! I already love the Bubble Blaster. The sound level was instantly noticeable, especially to my wife! :lol2:

Another thing I like about the pump is that you can see the air and water being pushed into the skimmer body b/c of the clear housing. Has nothing to do with performance, but it's a nice feature:lol:

I upgraded from a coralife 125 to a Octopuss nw-160,, night and day difference ,, thanks nanchill for the hookup and nyreefnrob for bringing it to the swap for me
