I found the ones at HD too hard to open/shut especially connected on vinyl tubing , I got mine on Marine Depot/ or Dr F&S they have a great 3/4 barbed valve thats easy to open/close and it fits perfectly on the return line with 2 stainless steel clamps. Or if you must go the HD route you get a threaded reducer to fit on the valve with a barbed 3/4" slip fitting.
try Lowe's , Home Depot sucks
