My pumping Xania is dying, not sure why. I got these at the ast reef swap, it did well up to about a week ago. Last week i added a few other corals, so imoved the Xania. Know it's shrivel up and some of the tips are turning white. Any suggestions
iodine works well with xeina they love it I hit my tank every sunday with lugos also add reg iodine tec II ect a few times a week, how are they doing I find when they go they go fast,,,,
Xenia are very sensitive to neighbors, Iodine levels, etc. They are generally pretty tolerant of phosphate and nitrate/nitrite levels which makes them a confusing addition to the intermediate reefers tank.
Make sure they are way out of reach of local stinging neighbors, i.e. star polyps or LPS.
Also you can look into increase the Iodine supplements but that is generally reserved for Xenia concentrated tanks.
Usually when Xenia dies it is a precursor to other corals having problems, so do your water tests and stay alert.
It is hard to kill but in the right combination it will happen within a day or two.
When it is growing fast most people consider it a pest, personally I think it is the nicest addition to any tank.
