I'm happy for you but I was there on Sunday and nothing but dead fish everywhere.
There had to be at least 10 dead fish in the tanks.
My 13 year old daughter said to me hay dad don't they know they would sell more of the live ones if they removed the dead ones lol.

Really guys it only takes an open eye REMOVE THE DEAD FISH:banghead::banghead:

well i bought six chromis on Sunday and all died within a hour of getting in my tank. I had to basically beg to get help as to nobody in there willing steps up and says may i help you. I had one decent experience here but its not the first time i've had to go out my way to be helped.

This week we received two large shipments that included hundreds of Chromis. We found over the course of the week that one of the shipments performed less than admirably and we lost a larger percentage than usual, hence the dead fish in the tanks.We received these fish from a wholesaler which usually insures better health and a better rate of survival. Unfortunately noone knows what happens all the time in this underseas world. I always say you can replicate but not recreate. We do not receive any credit toward unhealthy or dead fish but I will extend a percentage off your next purchase up to the amount you spent on the Chromis. This holds true for anyone who had this problem and can present a proof of purchase. We at AV try our hardest to keep, maintain and purchase the healthiest livestock possible. The fact they they are caught, travel, get packed and are sent on trips that last 24 or more hours, get unpacked repacked and shipped amazes me. Sometimes I sit back and wonder how any of these fish survive considering what they go through to get into our tanks. Fish die and that is the hardest thing we have to accept in our hobby. A majority of the time we do not know why, we can only speculate. I have seen fish eating, swimming and vibrant, only to die right in front of me in my tank. We ask why, but again, we do not know most of the time.
Please inform us whenever you think their is a problem. I know some people feel the need to post anything and everything, but we have no problem speaking to you on the phone or in person.
As for the lack of attention and service. I have a lot of people working in my store. They all greet and try to speak to every customer that walks in the door. We are a very busy store, thanks to some of you, and we try our hardest to give full attention to every customer, no matter who they are and what they spend.

Not trying to offend ya but did you acclimate properly? I think they keep their tanks at a lower salinity.

Ok here we go i acclimented them properly it was the fish the fell like a b52 bomber. that being said i did get invertabrates there before that were fine. But it was not a good expierence with the customer service. Im not looking to start a whole long thread. He explained what happened i respect that. He said hed extend himself nuff said i satisfied

I dont know about you guys but i LOVE when the workers leave me alone. Gives me more time to look around and not make a impulse buy and take my time to get what would really do well in my tank. When i go to the LFS i can care less if im in there for an hour or more :)

AV, Rich, and everyone that works there is great people and very helpful if u need anything!.

ive always had a great exp there and love the store!.
they always try to help as much as possible and work with me very well on pricing and ordering if they dnt have something.

yeah sometimes things happen, fish die, and people can be very busy at times. ppl just need some patients and to understand.

im in there all the time picking up new stuff or even just to look!

Bottom line is its a real good store with great people working on the floor. I have always had god exp's at A. V. and will continue to give them my business.
I'm in 3-4 times a week and have never had a bad exp. with the staff.
Sometimes it's the customer.

Perhaps it is the time of day, but I have never had to stand around waiting for help. I walk in, and I am usually greeted immediately with a smile, and a hello. But then again I'm old fashion, and was taught that when one walks into a room, or place one is to say hello.
There is no need for anyone to ask "may I help you" when you first walk into an LFS, as most will "tank shop" for a bit before deciding on what they want. At that point you step up to any of the sales associates, and request the help needed.;) At least that is what I do.:flirt:

I had an issue not that long ago. I sent an RB, and got a response I felt was unjustified. I went to AV yesterday spoke with Richie who apologized, and stated that he would not only look into it, but hooked me up with my purchase.

I may have seen "A" dead fish once or twice in this store since it opened. Never have I seen numerous dead fish.

No matter the LFS, or any other store for that matter there will be extremely busy days where it becomes difficult to get help "at a drop of a hat".

I go to many LFSs and there are always dead fish, it is the nature of the business. I have been buying fish from there since they opened and out of the 6 or 7 fish I bought over the last year, they are all still alive and texting me when I am away.
I just got a clown gobi there sunday and it looks like he will spawn soon as the female mandarin is doing that I also got from there.
I did notice that the water that I brought home the gobi in was very weak, so weak that I could not get a reading on it so I had to acclimate for a few more minutes, but no problems at all. They also have a great selection of frags and the prices are IMO great. We all have bought fish that died right away, but it is what it is, we are dealing with living animals.

I've only been going to AV for maybe 3 months, I've seen a few dead fish once in a while, but never seen the store look as bad as you say it was. I've been there when its very busy and when I'm almost the only person in the store, regardless I've always had someone help me. Sometimes it might take a while because every employee is helping someone, but I've never been ignored.

AV is by far my fav LFS because they have such a good selection of coral, and a very knowledgeable staff. I'd recommend AV to anyone who's in the hobby.
