Ok guys,

I always wanted to do something like this....but I always felt my softie tank isn't too interesting for the pro's here. However, I'm doing this for my own dang self and anyone else if they're interested. I'm going to post 3 pics each week in the state of the tank (on it's good days, and on it's bad days).

Warning: I'm a college student, lazy and a procrastinator. So there will be weeks I'll forget to change the water, forget to scrape the algae, etc. THIS JOURNAL WILL BE RAW

Like everyone, I dream of keeping a illustrative development of my tank. I think of this as my tank journal.

I hope ya enjoy and critique.

Week 1: January 1, 2006

This first entry will have 4 pics.
The first pic is the state of my tank when I was contemplating on selling it and the following 3 pics were taken today.
Trying to deal with the green color on the rocks and getting it to purple up. Anyone want to donate some corraline algae? :knockedou

was that base rock you started with or LR? nice green coverage, howd you do it?

yes the rock was based. I had the rock left over from a previous tank that I took out and dried out for over a year. The green coloring might not be a good thing, well I'm pretty sure its not a good thing. Prolly some sort of nuisance algae. It's weird cuase it just makes my rock green but I dont see any leafy thing growing out of it... I'd rather have it purple. I doubt its green corraline algae.

hey. i see the red shrooms. and if i'm not mistaken i see the red sea xenias in the back left side. Your thank looks great. i will try to scrape some coraline for you and bring it in on sat.

thanks dace, the red shrooms open real nicely. I kep a piece of the red sea and traded a piece. Thanks again. Hope the acro's doing well!

You guys think I could keep SPS and have it thrive (not only survive) with PC's, considering water quality and flow is up to par? :bigeyes2: My tank's pretty shallow :p

I was able to keep monti's under pc light before i upgraded to mh. Maybe you can give thata try

i agree, jackson. froggie, I also think you should put a background for your tank as well. it'll give your tank more definition and accentuate the characteristics.

I think i got that tank, its the aquatic creations bookshelf right? i run a 70w 10000k Mh and dont have that green stuff on my rocks. looks cool since its only on the rock and no where else, from what i see anyway. good job though
