Tobin that's not a red planet but it's a hyacinthus just like the red planet (from Mshur). If I move it lower in the light or get a spike in the nutrient level it will turn green all over the base.

Natural sunlight didn't play a role in the algae bloom since it was on all the rocks, even rocks that didn't get sunlight. My tanks have always had natural sunlight and hair algae was never an issue. The algae bloom really took off after I changed salts from coralife to IO (the store didn't have coralife that day). Since changing back to coralife the algae has subsided.

The colors are just spectacular Rich...one of these days I'll get over there to see it in person...

After reading the last few pages, now I know where my algae issue came from..same thing with the salt...

Thanks Kathy. Changing salts was the turning point in the battle but I never really 100% got rid of the HA. I still have a few patches here and there even after many WC's with a different salt. I dunno anymore :) I plan on adding a little cheato to the back chamber to see if that helps.

Awilida can you see your frag on the bottom?

Kathy your ric rock is behind the scoly. They have gotten to a normal size now :)
