pft :irked: you still have to set something up in my gallonage range, i had forgot about the i-cone skimmer also, same thing basically as the royal, but that red dragon pump on there has to be a killer,
I'm going to have to sell alot of frags to get that skimmer

Well done Dave. Interested to see what cone skimmer you go with and see what sort of performance you get. Read a lot about them but be nice to hear some results from one of our own Manhattan reefers.

Ok everyone. I've been doing some thinking about the skimmer for this tank and also have been thinking on how to get a good skimmer and save money at the same time so here is what i came up with. i will post these 5 skimmers and want to hear what you guys and girls have to say.

been using Reef Octopus DDNW-250 Protein Skimmer for 2 years on my 500g system (see first 3 pics, post #1, of 'dream come true setup' in tank threads) Works great, 'reasonable' price, no complaints. BTW , I'll be very happy, if my new 600g system can look 1/2 as good as yours!

have asm g3 and octopus/msx 300(2 pumps...just before they came out with 3 pumps 350). have the g3 running a 100 gal. total volume and msx 300 running a 270 gal. the octopus blows the asm away.....no comparison period. get the extended neck if you have the room (height) and be careful of the collection cup drain nipple. broke two off already while cleaning.... just plugged it up with the rubber stopper from inside the cup. works just fine but have to empty the cup more often if you skim wet. love the look of the vertex.....if i have extra cash laying around, i'd spring for one.
