I hung it up for a while and have slowly made my reintroduction into the big tank again. I never really left I kept a nano all along. This shot is from today and the rock has gone though it's cycle. The sandbed is a true 6inch all the way through, 320 lbs of sand to be exact. I plan on plumbing it next week and two weeks after introduce the first stage of my livestock. Yeah I am going to really take things slow (this is how far I am since March 11th) and plan to finish my final livestock introduction sometime in Sept. and will be coral free till at least 2010. I am really paying attention to this tank and taking a more educated approach to the cycles and bioloads this time. I'll post more on progress as things come along.

Why you need so many Mag Floats???? Looks good.
I keep three because when your in the middle of cleaning sometimes those big ones detach, my glass is 1/2in thick. I keep the little one because it is easier to control at the bottom near the sand and it fits easier in tight spaces.
Thanks for all the rockwork compliments. I appreciate it.

I forgot to mention the equiptment.
Circulation = 2 vortech Mp40w, 4 hydor flow attachments to the return lines, Reeflo snapper return Pump

LIght = 4 T5 daylight, 2 50/50 T5, 2 Atinic T5 and though I will seldom use them I have 2 250w 10k Mh. Ming inspired my T5 array he has awesome corals and only feeds them T5 lighting

Filtration and Etc = 3 chamber sump with two filter socks, foam filters (that I will Clean religiously),Asm G3 skimmer,2 little fishies reaction chambers (gravity fed), Current prime 1/3 chiller. Controlled by a Reefkeeper.

I will update the thread as I would a journal. The good and the bad. Nothing left out. Hopefully The plumbing supply will get here by the end of the week and I will update then after the hours of plumbing work and back aches. Thanks Again

Well 2 months Later (I told you I was going to take it slow) and I have had the tank running for about 2 weeks straight now because I ran into a few snags and I have finally taken the time to update the thread. The tank was not balanced, the reefkeeper was acting up, my initial pump was not strong enough and I had a leak and I broke a bulkhead. My reefkeeper was replaced (warranty) and my pump was replaced by a reeflo Blackfin 1800 of which I think added a good 2 degree spike in water temperature. But for now all is quiet. I will introduce my first residents tommorow. A clean-up crew and a few chromis.
Current water parameters are 0 ppm Nitrite, 10ppm Nitrate, 0 ammonia, 7.9 ph, 80 degrees temp and 1.025 salinity.

David, everything looks so clean and ready to go.
I've got one glaring observation though. I see you've got a ball valve after your union in post #11 picture #3 (black ball valve). I know it's on your overflow, so theoretically you shouldn't really ever have to remove the union, but for future plumbing jobs, you should put the ball valve BEFORE the union. This will shut off the water before the location that you want to separate the pvc, thereby avoiding either a flood or more water escaping your tank than necessary.

You avoided the same situation on your return pump with two unions (one on either side of your ball valve). This would have been a much worse location for the oversight than on the overflow. The return will need to be disconnected much more frequently for servicing the pump.

Looks great though. Good luck with your livestock.

Thanks for the Advice on that last one their Russ.

Well I have been off track with my tank postings and I did tell myself that I would try to keep this as a journal and I have not, so I 'll try to compound everything that has happed so far to a minimum.

1. My first livestock purchase was inverts and snails. I had luck with them. Everything went well. Early June
2. My first fish purchase was introduced on June 25th from reefs2go. I will do my best to avoid buying fish from the internet as I lost everything in less than 24 hours except one fish due to what I believe was/is poor packaging methods being used in the industry. The one survivor was a cardinal and I lost about a dozen other fish (different species).
3. About a week later I started to notice my rocks gaining color (coraline).
4. Mid July. I am losing shrimps in both tanks all other inverts surviving. This is also about the same time I did a good cleaning of the sump and equipment and my Asm skimmer started acting up but I fixed it.
5. Mid august Coraline siezed and cyano and hair algea said hello. Bastards.
6. August 20th (My birthday) I didn't buy cake I brought Fish. I purchased 13 fish and 11 are still kicking so I consider that very good and I am happy with that purchase.
7. Yesterday I picked up 7 more fish and 2 inverts. Fish are good but less than 4 hours after completion of acclimation and introducing, I lose my shrimps. One not seen and the other being consumed by nassirus. Will check my levels and possibly start thread. Other noticeable thing was, I realized one of the power supplies for my vortech's was gone. Luckily battery backup always on and charging.
8. Installing 8 new T5 bulbs and taking pics.

Almost lost hope finding my Tank Thread. Well in the time since my last post I went through a massive algea bloom that went on for about 2 months,I was dumbfounded as to what attributed to the bloom as all my rock and sand was already cycled. But at first I let in run, thinking it was a cycle, but it went a little long and some inhabitants started dissapearing, so my evasive action was to replace all stages of my 5 stage Rodi (Regardless of time), replace pellet food with meaty food, change filter socks every 3 days, Media every 2 weeks, replaced the Skimmer (super Reef octopus xp-2000) and the sump for higher volume, and cut down on light (photosynthesis) time. Results were immediate and my tank seems to have stabilized for now. Salinity 1.025, Ph 8.16, Orp 208 temp usually around 77. Pics are of my Blue sided wrasse, My point of view (in case anyone notices I purchased the plant in bad shape and I am saving it), and last an Actinic shot.
