Looks awesome! Nice work! How do you like the overflow? I’ve had my eye on the same tank and was wondering if it sticks out and gets in the way.
thanks man, my last two tanks had that bump out so im kinda used to it , in the past id usually pile up rock there, not too sure what im gonna do as far as aquascaping yet , i might be finding out tomorrow lol

i ended up making this lil contraption for the ato bobbler thingy cuz I couldn’t fit my drill in there which I ended up being kinda happy about cuz I really didn’t want to drill this expensive a$$ sump, I also have a cool idea for something I’m gonna do with this glass doors, stay tuned!

Question: i think i messed up, i made a durso overflow but i made it out of one inch fittings, will making it out of say 1 1/2-2" fittings then reducing down to 1" really make it that much more quiet? This thing now is louder than before lol , 1 1/2 should fit , but i think 2" will be too tight in the overflow, itll hit the return line, any suggestions? ( i hope its ok for me to post this here )

Let’s see a photo of it. I always feel larger allows more air and water to go down easier. And also it could be noisy cause it hasn’t pretty much broken in yet.

I picked up some 1 1/2” pipe and fittings but there too big to fit in my overflow , I’m thinking of trying to modify the pipe and street elbow together somehow with out the Tee fitting

I’m gonna see if I have a 2” holesaw or whatever the outside diameter is and drill a hole into the pipe, then drill top down on the street elbow to see if they line up , if they do since there’s no pressure then I’ll prime and glue and clamp them together hoping they bond lol here goes nothing , I’ll post a pic after

My bootleg skills are on 1000 lol ..... now do u guys think it might be better to have more of this overflow at 1 1/2” pipe or cut this ghetto Durso as short as possible and adapt it to the 1” pipe and have the one inch pipe run most of the way ? I can try both ways , what do u think will happen?

Worked out better than expected. I went half the height of the tank with 1” into the bulkhead then adapted to 1 1/2” to my ghetto durso. At first I drilled a 3/16 hole in the cap and it started filling and emptying , filling and emptying and so on. Then drilled a 1/4” hole and it was quiet and steady. The water just sits at the brim of the extra overflow pipe...... next up, my skimmer is too loud sounds like a vacuum!

Idk I’m always so use to it narrowing down at the outlet area

larger pipe diameters (1.25″ +) are used to help the drain handle higher flow rates and stay quiet. The single drain pipe is then reduced in diameter before going through the bulkhead

Just updating the thread with a few pics, changed some equipment since, upgraded skimmer to nyos 220, added uv, switched to mesh socks, added tunze wavebox and reef wave 45 , still have 3 mp40s running , I might remove two of them , also added diffusers on to the gen 5 blues, contemplating on adding reefbrites , I am looking for a 3D printing file to print those light shades that hang on the lights so lights aren’t in my eyes when sitting on the couch
