Ohhh, and I replaced the stock fan in the hood and added another fan to the open slot that came empty with the hood. The temp has gone down from about 82 average to about 78. Impressive that only adding one fan and replacing another can lower the temp that much.
Give the coralline a little bit and it'll grow on the other side just like it did the first time. Purple-up is a waste of mine, in my opinion. I think it looks good but I would watch out for detritus build up in there since the rocks look pretty well packed. Also, you should consider some LPS!
Are you still happy with the lighting upgrade? I have an Aquapod and need to change my bulbs soon and was considering the 40 watters...I'm going to replace the existing noisy as hell fan with a newer quieter one as well as place one in the open slot.
Yeah, the tank hasn't been set up long enough for me to really have anything to back up my opinion. I only really had the 32 Watt bulbs for a few weeks before I upgraded. But I do think it is worth it to put in 40 Watt bulbs. Costs you maybe a couple extra dollars over the 32W bulbs and it is probably the easiest Mod you can do since all you need to do is unscrew the bulb sockets to allow them to shift back slightly to accommodate the longer bulbs. The tank temperature spike that I got was from adding the Cheato Fuge light and not the 40W bulbs. So at least in my case I did not see any sort of significant temperature difference from the bigger bulbs. I would go with the 2 40's.
Saw my first Bristle Worm. He seems to live in my Zoa's.............And likes to crawl around on them. I hope he isn't the bad kind that eats things that I value. Trying to get some pictures of him.
So......I have not updated this since November. What is new......ummmm....I had a large algae bloom when I left my tank over Christmas Break. I think it was due to overfeeding, no water changes, and that the person watching my tank did not do anything to remove any of the hair algae while I was gone. But my tank survived after I scrubbed most of it off with a toothbrush and drastically reduced my feeding schedule. I have Xenia. It is spreading. I tried something I read about over on Nano-reef.com and I put a small piece of Xenia through my powerhead a few times to try to chop it up. Maybe the pieces will settle and spread. I may regret this when my tank is 100% pink and covered with Xenia, we will see.
