Hello !
It's my first time here and I'm from Brazil ( south america ).
I'm sorry about my English because I've been studying it by my self and everytime I make mistakes ( LOL ).
I'd like to talk about a simple system that doesn't use skimmer, supplements, control of temperature, etc.

There is something about my experience w/ my 7 gallon nano reef there. The nano is going to be 3 years old.

Nowaday I have just 2 Power compacts 25w ( 6500k ) and 1 Powerhead. No skimmer, no chiller, no heater, no supplements, no kalkwasser, no, no, no...
Water changes: 3 gallon / year
My rotine: Every day I replace fresh water and each 2 or 3 days I give some food to the 2 perculas clown. Just it.
These experience show me that there is an easier way to keep a mini-reef when you understand what the animals really need.

I've seen this tank before and it's great. It's amazing how you seem to be able to keep the reef going without a heater. :?
Ive also got a nano/mini-reef going in the same way without any supplements, kalk, skimmer, basically just the water and LR and LS. But it's nothing to compared to this one. Mines only been going for 7 months so it's got a long way to go yet.

How do you change the salt water ? Is it done daily ?
Is this method your own idea or you saw something like that and you've made a similar system ?

what happens when they frags grow too big for the tank?

clip them like bonsai?

Good question !
Clipping the frags is a good way to keep our hobby and don't destroy the reefs )
When you have a nano, this problem is the same that other people have w/ a big aquarium, the only difference here is the time.
I preffer that corals that don't grown quickly...
