Since I am waiting for my display tank, I am taking care of filteration part, I bought this acrylic box that was used as sand filter from freshwater hobby guy and I decided to convert this into nitrate reactor, I got 102 pcs of these ceramic media which is very porus and i used all of these ceramic tubes and it will hold 50 pcs more which i ordred this morning. water will enter from top 1" port and drain from bottom, drain will come up to keep the water in reactor. here are some of the pictures of the reactor..

Ravi, i don't think is gone work.
Fell free and stop by , may be a long discussion about .
I have some experience , how ?! and why ?! to control the bacteria.
This filtration , in my opinion wont work. # 1 Enemy for Reef is Detritus ( in my opinion) in few weeks or months will work against you , when Detritus settle in those blocks , organic PO4 will be inside, hard to check, then inorganic , then to late to do anything.
Macro algae remove most of NO3 , problem is ....how much you have to remove to control the balance, you don't want zero NO3 or PO4 , but you need some. In my opinion 4 to 5 ppm NO3 and 0.02 to 0.05 Po4 , control nice grow and color and good immunity of the system . The main point is.........what you try to grow ?! SPS only ? LPS only ?! or mix. Mike C. got great way to control , not only detritus , NO3 and PO4.
Great Alkalinity to maintain bacteria in to the system is 7dKH max. 8 dKH. Final word is this , those blocks will work just like Bio Balls , when Detritus got involved , problem show up.

Yes, you right, but like i said , if you got most fishes will work perfect, on SPS only, is dif. Take me 5 min. to know you, great thinking , you ambitious , smart and very good on hands , i still , try to find a way , how to (separate the Detritus) before go back in return line , that will make the Reef a way ......less , mechanical or chemical filters.

Installed exhaust fans right above the tank to remove humid air from the room, I have split air conditioning unit as well that is going to keep the room temperature at comfortable level, I will install the plumbing for chiller just to be on safe side and I have chiller that is commercial level sitting in my storage. I am having aluminum sheet installed above the tank as well, I don't want moisture to cause any damage to the sheet rock above. These fans are super quiet and they pull out 110 - 130 cfm each depending on speed setting. These are made by Panasonic and sound level is 0.3 at 110 cfg and 0.5 at 130 cfm speed . I have 1 outlet installed on the ceiling as well for light fixture, I will mount the light track so that I can move the light rack out of the way when working on the tank, here are some of the pictures.. there are many more to come..

I think it depends on whether you want it to stand out or blend in. Personally I would do the safe thing that David said. I wouldn?t want the diamond plate standing out and detracting from the amazing tank you will be setting up.
