very cool tank. i like the all-inclusive concept as well - no chance of water spilling all over the place under or over your tank!!! (my nightmare, even with syphon breaks...)

you showed a pic of a "rare softie" that looks like an sps -- what is it? it's very pretty!

Nice all-inclusive tank. Excellent lighting & great coral coloration.

I placed 2 orders with BigAls online (they are based in Canada) & found them to be very good (dry goods only).

Big Als is pretty good a little pricey up here in Canada but a good selection. It's funny Big Al owner is Canadian but he picked up and moved his headquarters to Florida. One thing that I find is that there is more of a selection and better pricing in the states. Just remember here in Canada a case of Molson Canadian is around forty dollars and a bottle of Canadian Club is also forty dollars. The same goes for corals.

Well its been awhile since I last posted to this or any forum on the status of my tank. Unfortunately my tank did not change well not sort of. For over a year I have been busy at work and around the house causing neglect to my tank. Well to sum it I won some and lost some. The tank was run over by bubble algae, cyano and hair algae. Some of my hard corals died from not doing any water changes or adding any supplements. Almost a year to be exact. I was about to sell the tank when I looked back and reflected on this site and other sites with TOTM. I still haven't fulfilled my goal for an awesome tank. So I rolled up my sleeves and cleaned up. That was over a month ago.

A Few years back a LFS was closing and I picked up 20 gallon Hagen tank and an aquaclear 110 pump. Intentions were to add a sump and refugium for my main display tank since my DAS never had a sump.

Anyway I cleaned up the tank and started to work on the Sump which I felt is beneficial for a tank. Really have you ever seen a TOTM sumpless? I think not.
Since I have a DAS tank which has a H99 (like a sum in the tank) I wasn't prepared to dismantle the tank and drill the tank at this point. I searched for a HOB overflow so I decided to build one out of PVC 3/4 pipe using this concept I found on youtube.

When I first hooked up the overflow and return this sucker was loud like a really leaky toilet or a jacuzzi. My wife told me that no way that is running in our house. So I had to go back to the drawing board.

Here is the inlet at the overflow (1st attempt)

For the Sump was easy I just shortened the inlet pipe just a few inches from the top of the water level. Now a quiet Sump which is operating at a very quiet level.

Here is the return:
