Fuge
Going to add Chaeto/Holder/Submersible light to my Sump.
Going to try this light in this basket mounted on its side so water flows through it and make extra holes in it.
Ok my lights were bought used from tokendog and I kept his settings. After a few weeks the torch, hammer & duncan have kept their color. The two monti caps and the acro have lost a little bit of their pop.
This got me thinking to check the lights. The original owner has not responded with his rationale of why he choose these timers/intensities specifically. I am contemplating erasing them all and starting fresh but I need some guidance.

I'd suggest keeping a few spare bulbs handy. I had 2 of them die on me in less than 6 months.
Skimmer dialed in giving me this dark dark stuff after 2 days
PH from 7.99-8.18 up from the range of 7.89-8.09 a week ago attributed to new fuge/light:
Nice skimmer, got a nice cup of coffee there....lol!!!!!!!
Thanks, it seems after every water change I need to dial it way down then slowly ramp it up over 24-48 hours, doing a water change every 10 days this means my skimmer is not running optimal 10-20% of the time. Is this normal for a skimmer to freak out after water changes and cleaning? Will it diminish as it "breaks in"?
If i remember correctly, yes, the skimmer usually goes crazy right after water change and feeding but it should stabilize afterward and you should not need to fiddle with it but pay close attention to it. Give it some time and see if it settle before you adjust it and readjust it again.
They sent me a replacement bulb right up front, that should have been a sign, how many do you run concurrently?
If you are changing filter socks with the WC. This is most likely the problem with the skimmer going crazy. It happens to me with a sock change. I shut it down for 1 day.. 2 if sock is brand newThat's the problem I can not give it time after a restart because leaving it in the previous position pulls too much and the cup over fills in under 15mins.
And it isn't a water height issues because I have my APEX not turn
back on my slimmer till 10mins after the return pump goes back
on therebye allowing water level to return to normal and ATO
to be working properly as well before the skimmer is brought back on line.
