ofer the past few years i went from a 120g to a 125 to a 220 down to a 40 now a 92g... its been an intersting few years to say the least.
a while back i was asking abt how i shoud go abt setting up my 92g tank that i used for freshwater cichlids before i got the reef bug.
(heres a pic of the tank before)
since the move i had my 40g running and doing well but it just wasnt big enough but it was a very nice tank, i think the reason y i had such great results was the fact that i used a 55g tank as my sump/fuge:scratchch
(heres a pic of the 40)
ive wanted to set up this tank since i moved but refused to use a 20g as a sump, i just felt like it wasnt enough to support the bioload of the tank.
with the help of reefs4life came up with a design for using another corner bow tank as a sump/fuge after taking some measurements i found that the inside of the stand was 1 1/2 inches larger than the outside diameter of the 54g bow corner but only 8inches taller, so i knocked out the bottom of the stand and used 2x8s on their side to raise up the base.
(heres some pics of the stand and sump)
the tank is lit with an ecoxotic panorama LED unit with extra blue stunners to get the 14k hue i like. but wish the panel was wider bc the outside corners are a little shadowed.
water flow is created by an mp40 and an mp10 with 2 koralias behind the rocks on a wavemaker to create flow behind and trhu the rocks to eliminate any dead flow spots for detrius build up. the tank was drilled for a single 1-1/2 drain and is returned by a mag 18 to 2 1in returns with eductors.
the return pump is tee'ed off to the tank as well as the reactor for the po4x4 and a spray bar for the fuge
filtration is done both bilogically and mechanically
a super reef octopus 1000 skimmer with a dual chamber BRS reactor with carbon and bio pellets. as well as a reactor running po4x4
in my fuge is rock rubble and chaeto. in the tank is 150 lbs of sand and 100lbs of LR.
the tank is fed by an air water and ice 5 stage 75g per day unit with an ato by ato.com
(and now the tank, been running for 3 months)
