My tank has been going good since the rebuild in January. By good I mean NO algae. :D .

My concern is the very slow growth of the corals. I run Kalk and a Calcium reactors. I have NO fish (at least yet). Should I be feeding the corals?

Coraline has grown on the back glass.

Lighting 250W HQI 14K Phoenix 9 hours
2x95W VHO actinics - 11 hours

Parameters:
CA - 380
Alk - 9.6 DKH
PH - 8.2
Temp - 79
Sal - 1.025
Nitrate - 0
PO4 - 0

TIA

Get a fish or two- that's all the feeding you need to do.

My first choice in a sps tank would be clown gobies. They are colorful, small, and best of all they will perch among the branches of your sps. Bringing enjoyment and food for the corals.

For some reason I think corals just don't grow quickly in a new tank. I don't know why, but I noticed that when I set up my first tank 6 years ago and again when I set up my 300 last summer.

Since they are growing I would not be to concerned. I would not get the clown gobies since they do perch on SPS. Your tank is not large and they may caouse problems. Some sort of flasher wrasse would be nice. I like cardinals also. A pair of bangaii would be cool.

The corals are showing polyp extensions but not that much growth if at all.

Some of the frags that I have place in holes of LR still have not attached in 4 months.

I am not a huge fan of the cardinals. I have looked for a fairy wrasse and the LFS's never have them or they have ick.

My biggest debate if I dont want fish that hide and I want colorful fish. SO that leaves out psuedochromis and basslets. The Chevron tang is a nice idea still but they are $$$$$$$$$$ and to spend that much on a first fish is crazy IMO.

My other concern about some of the fish is that I do not have any pods/worms in my tank so a wrasse might now work.

How about another tang? Maybe a yellow?

And I'm always recommending bicolor blennies. Beautiful, colorful, full personality, and all over the tank! (And will also help with any algae, if that becomes a problem!) :D

Glad to hear you beat the algae.

No need to feed until you get fish.

A sixline wrasse is awesome, too bad my carpet ate him. They accept mysis, bloodworms, and brine shrimp.

If I could pick a new tang I would get a black or a blue.
