What are some of the easier beginner sps corals to start with? Just wondering what the craze of sps is all about. Me personally I like lps corals. Hammers, frogspawns, elegance,Duncan's you get the point. Ricordeas, colorful zoas. To me the sps just seem plain and boring. Maybe it's just me. Or maybe everyone enjoys the challenge of keeping sps alive.

That's the same way I thought of corals when I had a fish only
Live rock now I'm 8 years into reefs lol.but to answer your question look in the frags swap section you could get some cheap beginner sps most likely the cheaper the easier

Yes I am reading caps and bird nest are the easiest. I like the birdnest. I'm not ready for sps yet but it's Sunday and I'm bored and I was always curious to know. Btw your tank looks great Jim. That's because if the lps and your harlequin tusk. Lol

Don't bother, unless you can keep ure phosphates and nitrates down it's to difficult . They are super cool once they base over a rock and start growing . Once your levels are good they just need tons of alk and calcium and decent lights

Truth me the day will come when u like the sticks I have been true multiple stage of reefing and I still own most of the soft corals but for the last year and a half all I been looking at growing out is sticks and eyes and I love them the colors polyp extension I Def like like little one inches frags turning into little trees

And my recommendation for starter sps are momti caps or birdsnest

I've gotten bit bye the sps bug. Not ready yet cause I'm still working on getting phosphates and nitrates within the parameters but I'm definitely keeping my eyes open. I'm more likely going with the birdnest. I've seen these in different colors and shapes. I like the tree/stick aspect

I am looking for some caps. Think there called montipora caps. How much should I look to spend on these and for how big of a piece? I would like to put it on my overflows and hope they grow from there. I've seen these grow on Jim's tank and thought they were neat. Are they a fast or slow grower? And what could I use to "stick" them to my overflows? I have 2 center overflow on each side of my tank. Probably could finagle a few since my overflows are 3-sided
