What are the best ways to prevent sps corals from browning? It seems that lately any frag I get no matter what I do in a couple of weeks they brown out.

+1, my purple SPS browned on me when PO4 rose in my tank. After I used GFO in the back sump, the PO4 came down slowly, and the SPS regained its color over the course of a month and half.

What lights use makes big difference

Perhaps a bit more info on your tank n par would enable us to narrow down the recommendations as there are too many possibilities.

I have a 120 gallon tank always had metal halides on this system had 3 250 watts double ended now have switched to t5 powermodule have lost shimmer but better coloring in spas and yes have to run carbon and phosphate remover so
