almost all use Rio powerheads so there really isn't much difference in the $100 or so skimmer. i've owned quite a few and i still like the SR2 sump skimmer by CPR. Biopack is the same but hangon.

mix for up to three days is a good idea for full strength kalkwasser, but i don't want full strength. i usually mix about i teaspoon per gallon or less. only want to supplement my calcium reactor to keep ph up. Using kalk in this manner, i get a steady ph of 8.1.

i agree. Southdown blows all over and move a rock and it's a storm all over again. Set up over a year and it never "got covered with bacteria". It just continued to get on my nerves and i removed. To the sump it went.
