The final exam is posted in the Quiz folder as a WEB PAGE. Posted here:
http://www.reefs.org/maco/course_2/quizzes/MACO%202%20Final%20exam.htm

I would like to say that I want everyone to keep in mind to TAKE IT EASY with this final exam. Remember, this course is supposed to be for fun...

That doesn't mean it's hard or anything...hehe.

Now that we are wrapping to a close, let's plan an online "get together" to go over everything and get feedback once the course draws to a close.

Cheers
James

James, you're scaring the students. ;-)

Its not hard, just requires some thought, and its open book AMD take home.

What more could you ask from these capable budding coral-ologists?

they'll all ace it.

For those of us (okay, me only) who are in the process of setting up a new tank, should I draw upon memory of previous corals I have kept or should I answer the questions more in the general sense of what would probably happen in the different scenarios? I have kept reef tanks in the past, but move so often that no one tank ever gets really established.

Josh

P.S. Don't get the idea that I just set up tanks so I can sacrifice the inhabitants when I move. I only put corals in one tank, after a year and a half of experimentation with different skimmerless set-ups, and the corals were all doing great. They were doing great until my roomate forgot to check the siphon over-flow for four days in a row while on my 6 week honeymoon. The tank made it 5 weeks with no intervention from the roomies. We were driving home when I got the call. After spending a year and a half getting a system tweaked and experimented on, you can probably imagine that I was simply crushed. I almost gave up. Instead I have used the last year to learn even more, and learn from my mistakes in that system, and to use resources like this class to make the next tank great. That would be the tank AFTER the ten gallon skimmerless 5 week old cyanobacteria farm in the garage matures. I've been led to understand that the old tank looked something like a waterfall, which of course made the auto-top-off device go haywire. I'm honestly not sure whether the hyposalinity killed the three corals before the tank was completely drained, but in the chaos my roomates can perhaps be forgiven for not paying that much attention. Of course, my wife feels now that all aquariums belong outside... Live and learn.

Are you suggesting we partake in asexual activities?

Would that be intratentacular or extratentacular?

Josh, yes, drawing from memory of previous systems will be great. Or, you could visit someone's tank, or whatever you need to do. Please let me know if you run across problems trying to do this.

Andrew:

Hey, its none of my business what you depraved folks down under do with your free time...if you feel like showing off you new bud or releasing some planulaae on your own time, its fine by me. just don't ask me to participate. ;-)
