I would like to compile some information for my course-long project on Catalaphyllia. For those who own this coral, could you please answer the following?

1) How long have you had it?
2) What type of lighting is it under? What is the photoperiod?
3) What type of water current (mild/medium/strong)?
4) What (if anything) do you feed it?
5) Has it ever reproduced/spawned?

Thanks for your help.

Hi desertreefer,

My experience with this coral is as follows:

1. I have had two of them for three years now, on the same tank, and 5 inches apart from each other.

2. The light has been 6 40w Vitalite Aquatinics and 4 philips actinic-03 (changed every 6 months). The photoperiod is 16 hr/day.

3. The current has been always mild with short periods (four times a day) of strong flow.

4. They like a mixture of marine fish meat/octopus/squid/algae as well as live Artemia sp. nauplii. I feed them two times/week at early evening with the mixture. The nauplii is offered once a week.

5. They have never spawned or asexually reproduced.

Hope this is useful to You.

Best regards.

Nat
