Ok, I guess I jumped the gun and got fish too soon before my tank was fully cycled.

I have one green chromis and one bluestripe pipefish. The pipefish is not easy to keep, so would prefer to give to a skilled person who knows how to keep it alive (needs very small live food).

So, if anyone wants my two fish for free, PM me for meetup details. Am in NYC, UWS.

Would also trade for a couple live rocks (without aptasia).

The Green Chromis are hardy fish and it may seem harsh with what I'm about to say but you may keep the Green Chromis to help the cycling process.. since you have him.. keep him. The pipe should go to someone else who may be interested. Just look at the number of posts the user has and how long he/she has been a member before you just give the fish to someone else. Some people will say anything to just get a freebie. Now your learning. I like what you said about the aptasia... LOL!!

Thanks Ozone... Yep, I know the chromis could help cycle, but frankly can't handle watching him die because I am in a hurry. He actually seems quite healthy and has been there for a couple of weeks, but since I am going through a serious learning curve here, just trying to set my tank straight. Anyway, don't really want the chromis in the end - tank is only 29 gallons so 1 chromis makes no sense since he's a schooling fish. Would be better with 5 or 6 but I really have my heart set on other species.

So would rather give him away while he's still healthy and thriving. Plus, this little pipefish sounds really hard to care for, kind of nervous, don't want any more casualties in my tank!

You know what helps? Nutrafin Cycle. I was skeptical at first but tried it on my 29gallon setup before. Works like a charm. Never had ammonia spikes or nitrite and nitrate spikes. Cycling process was quick and easy. I have multiple setups and i tried multiple methods.. never had luck keeping a chromis alive in a cycling process. Clownfish are hardier than chromis, from my experience

Please don't rush the cycling process. This is the time to do a little more research as to why you need to cycle and what direction you want to go with the tank.

And using fish to cycle does not show much empathy to your livestock. If you are cycling with live rock you will be fine.

There is no reason to rush your first tank. None.
