It will reduce your cycling time.

Okay, I can maybe buy the fact that it will REDUCE cycling time, but there is someone on here trying to convince me that you can set up a tank and add animals the same day if you use used water. Now that is stupidity.

Does nobody just have patience to cycle a damn tank the right way anymore?

No, you cannot cycle a tank by using water that was in a tank.;)
You will still go through a cycle once you introduce new rocks & sand.!

the used water will not reduce the cycle time of the tank only the pads of a tnak or live rock that has been culitaveted for over 6 months, also as for the starfish regardless of killing tank mates or not you dont throw out a living thing it goes against what this site stands for. this is the free bee thread not a battle ground.

NOT interested!
Just want to point out that who ever takes the poor fish MUST have a QT to place him/her in to give it a stress FREE environment until it heals up. You may also need to medicate it's wounds so that they don't become infested.

Please if you cannot provide it with the adequate care it needs do not take it just because it is a free fish!;)

Also, going by it's current size a 10 gallon tank will not do as a QT.
