Who told you that? Brief exposure won't kill it, though maybe a couple of hours will.

not for a short period of time....may be hours to days but not immediately. i had taken rocks out for drilling/epoxying for at least 20-30 min. and none ever die.

i keep it in a huge rubbermaid garbage can at the moment with a powerhead, a heater, and a small light, when i took it out i misted it with a sprayer filled with salt water. it was out for a mere 5minutes

Can you post pics of the rocks? 120 lbs in 6 pieces each one is like 20 lbs each.

There are stores in NYC that charge about what you are charging now for new cured rock.

Most rock in here sells for 2 - 2.50 per pound.

Im thinking that is why you still have it around.
