I'm sorry but I don't know what "a stock hood" is.....does the stock hood have lights in it? It seems that you modified this tank to accept a metal halide fixture.....I wouldn't want to use that so I'm inquiring about what lights came with the original setup (in the hood) or not.

Stock hood is in the first, second and fifth pictures. The MH viper light is in the fourth picture. Hood was not modified in any way.
