I will not sell to anyone planning on keeping them in freshwater or without a big tank. This fish needs does not come around and it needs conservation. Cherish it if you buy it, it will become your favorite fish, like a puppy.

I am not a vendor in no way shape or form. This is my absolute favorite fish, i promote its conservation and definitely captive breeding.

As of now there is only ONE for sale.

the fish grows forever, recorded max sizes are about <10' but thats in the ocean and thats probably a 75 year old fish.
In the biggest of home aquariums they max at about 3' and change.
I have a 12'x12' Shark lagoon room in my basement. its only about 24" deep and its well over 2000 gallons.
this fish however is being quarantined in a 40 breeder with some other juv. groupers that i might also sell.
These fish get big, if you buy one you must be prepared for a two-three foot garbage disposal-eating monster.

I had a two to three footer in 2009-2010 in my shark lagoon and it was the best and my most favorite fish ever, it was responsive to me, would let me pet its forehead and sides, always came over as soon as i walked up, to greet me, hand fed,
Absolutely like a dog, very intelligent, ive missed that fish since i sold it and thats whats making me scour the earth for these

Im not trying to scare people away from buying, im just an honest person and im not gonna lie to make a sale. The fish is now 5 inches, depending on feeding habits and water temp and quality, itll be around a foot in a year, then growth slows a bit maybe 4 inches a year after that. So a 125-180 will suffice for a very long time, but it will out grow that eventually.

Its been dry since the winterof 2010 so a year anda few months. But when it was full of salty water there had been smoothhounds from pacific and atlantic regions, a lemon shark pup, a huge bumblebee grouper. Dozens of footlong trevally jacks (pilotfish), foot long rudderfish, a foot long miniata grouper, grunts and hamlets, snapper spp. Bamboo sharks and cat sharks. And at the end when it was the lemon shark and BB grouper, i was heavily feeding almost daily, but they still wiped out every last fish!

use to work for an lfs that had one, it was in Barneys department store for a few years and eventually got too big for their 300 we maintained so we got stuck with it, he got to about 2.5 feet and was severely growth stunted from being in tanks not big enough for it to the point his head was big enough to fit a grouper about 5 feet and his total length was only the 2.5
