I would like ideas as to how do you have your refugium setup, please indicate the layout and the equipment in and out of, the type of skimmer used, do you have chaeto, sand, crabs, shrimps, etc.
I have a sump with bioballs and purchased a 15gls. tall tank and had it divided into 3 compartments.
Thanks in advance for your information.

I like my refugiums seperate from the sump, they are less of a detrius trap if you have them after the skimmer and return pump. So return pump to both the refugium and main tank, and then refugium overflows into the main also.

get a real refugium...
Just a big tank with alot of water movement...lol
Unless it looks like this it's not doing anything....
Meaning it's at least 3/4 the size of your tank..

Hey BOB1000

I have a question...
what if someone doesnt have the room for a fuge 3/4 the size of the main display...but they still have a ton of plant life....
would that be pointless, or would it just be a % of the effectiveness.

ie...would a fuge 30% of the main disply serve any purpose? Or is it just a waste of space?

All refugiums do have an impact, but like you said it would be a percentage impact. And the other point of a good refugium is to raise copepods and other easily predated critters so they can grow out and then be eventually harvested for food.
