i hav a 55g with a remora skimmer, do i need to put a filter on? i was going to put like biowhel or a whisper type ofthing? do i need to or i can just hav the skimmer and power heads

there's no real honest answer
you could be fine with the skimmer and powerheads or it wouldn't hurt to add a filter with some mechanical and chemical filtration.

there really isn't a definite answer and if someone does give you a definite in this hobby there FOS for the most part at least.

i cant put anything heavy on there no wet drys, i was just gonna put a basic hang over filter on, like the marienland biowheels or aquaclear or whisper

If you are going to get a hang on filter I would suggest an Aqua clear over the other brands. It's easier to use other media like reef grade carbon or phosphate removing agents.

ok cool cool, im just nervous, becuz i didnt know that remora skimmers need like a week or 2 to break in and i dont hav anything else on the tank

well biowheels and bio-media are nitrate factories so no biowheels,aquaclears are great.Keep the carbon in it,maybe replace the sponge with a more efficient filter floss and replace the biomedia with something like phosban or purigen, you could switch out for your specific needs.

yeah i didnt buy one i had a extra aquaclear for 20gal, so i put it on( my tank is 55). just for now, my skimmer is working becuz i but prime in at one point and i used somethign for redslime( i cant make RO water when it too cold my hose is frozen) and it makes the skimmer go batty
