Hey all

I was just wondering about lighting for my 110 gallon tank. She is the tall model 30 inches deep. From what I have read the formula for the wattage really doesnt apply in my case because of the depth. My question is can I go with a light reef and keep the corals above the 24" mark and be ok? I am building up my live rock to be high with some shelves in the upper parts of the tank. I am planning on grabing neptunes MH fixture next week http://www.manhattanreefs.com/forum/sale-trade/34585-48-metal-halide-trade.html. I am not going to be going crazy just easy to care for corals.

Thanks!

Hey Inked. I have a 30" Acrylic Corner using a 400W Ushio 14K. The light is great. Nice bright and crisp. You can have a ton of stuff right on the bottom if you want. I have an open brain that loves the bottom. Rock comes up to about 7 inches below the surface with a nice shelf waiting for acros, and millis. I'm trying to post a pic just haven't gotten around to it.

i have an oceanic 150g that is 30" deep and i recently removed my 4-VHO's leaving just my 2-250w mh. i just upgraded to the luminarc reflectors and went from mogul base to DE and i keep sps, clams on the sand bed and my corals never looked better.

I have 2 400`s on my 110 w/ two 54w t-5`s all my acro`s are on the top of my tank and lps on the middle and bottom of the tank. In my opinion you should go no less than 250`s for that tank....

minimum of 250w mh pending what type of corals you want if sps then atleast the 250w's 2-3 of them, i have a 250w mh on a 24g nano and switching to a 37g column which is 26" high you just have to place corals accordingly to type of light used
