I would agree and say leave it alone. Do some research on Xenia and you'll see that it's perfectly natural for them to "melt" away and come back. It'll be fine. Check your MG levels. They should be around 1300-1350.

Trust me, the xenia is aok! I have had them do that especially after a good feeding of cyclopeeze!

I would say, take a deep breath, have a beer, and watch it bounce back!

Leo,

if the stalk start to melt cut it off or you will lose the entire colony. That happened to me and after 5-6 stalks died I decided to cut the bad part off and it bounced back.

No one really knows what Xenia eat. They are close to photoautotrophic but probably get nitrogen from eating bacteria, absorbing products of bacteria biosynthesis or nitrogen fixation, and dissolved material in the water -Eric Borneman

i used to have xenias in my tanks. They grow like weed, not the good kind ;). I was able to get a few hundred dollars in credit at a lfs for them in. For me they look their best at lower water temp. ie 74-78. They would also grow over other corals. I got tired of removing them from unwanted placed in my tank, so i got rid of them all together!
