I currently have 2 maxijet powerheads and a canister filter..

60lbs LR
60lbs Live Sand
54 Gal BowFront Tank
250 Watt MH
2 X 65wacc Actinics

Currently I have the return spray bar from my filter near the water line creating a rippling affec across the surface of the water..

My Plan. - I planned to purchase a Y Adapter and a second Spray bar for the other side of the tank. My Idea is that it will spray toward the center of the tank creating a real good combustion of water and giving a nice surface disturbance.

my Maxi Jet Powerheads are currently pointed Symetrically towards the live rock and create varying currents.

Should I reposition the Powerheads? Is the Dual Return Spray bar idea a good one? or will both spray bars suffer becaus not enough water is coming through?

Thanks!

what canister filter do you have? As far as the power heads go, one on the left side in the front of the tank facing across the front and the other one in the right rear of the tank facing across could work but it depends on your rockwork. Can you post a pic?

I'd position the powerheads offset a bit and angle them in about 45 deg toward center of tank to create a rolling effect.

If you don't have fine substrate you can put one of those fan diffuser outlets that the Maxijets come with and angle it down somewhat too. The idea is to get some flow in every part of the tank but high velocity is not necessary, just move water and consequently keep detritus etc, in suspension. Maxijets are also one of the best powerheads for use with wavemakers, you can get an inexpensive RedSea wavemaker and set them up for a variety of flow patterns.

I position my powerheads the same way as well
