need flow for refugium?

I have both chaeto & caulerpa in my sump. Do I need to put the powerhead in there for flow? If yes, how strong the powehead should be?

i have a powerhead in mine, but it's not a requirement. i have one at the far end (where the water exits) pushing the water back. my aim is to keep the water in the refugium just a tiny bit longer for the macros to draw more nutrients from it. it's probably a silly idea, but i don't think it can hurt.

Cheato does require a good amount of flow to thrive. It tends to grow better in my refugium that has a power head.
