alright, what you think about using sand from the beach (in the water) and washing it out (at the beach)? It should be packed with bacteria and such... may contain toxins? ** posted this to soon it just came to my head... searched it there is a post about beach sand... lol

these local beaches are loaded with toxins so you can skip that.if you check homedepot they have sand that you can use and all you have to do is get a cup of live sand from another reefer to seed your or some LR.but stay away from beach sand.

Ok....I might be a little late with this but...

You read & ask but do you take advice that is given?
No-one said or indicated that you can't ask questions, but what I take from this is thread is that you are trying to cut corners in a hobby that you can't.
Your genuine concern is not about the ingredients of table salt or snow salt as to "can I use it since it's cheaper that synthetic sea salt."
There were links provided in this thread as well as you previous threads regarding basic saltwater 101.
Take a second to learn them, price out your items, figure out if you can dedicate the time & if this is the hobby for you.
When you start disregarding the basics & try to take short-cuts....you have to expect the "not so happy post."
Alot of this hobby begins with common sense after you research.
Take it on your own to do it. You can't just ask questions & expect to hear the answers you want. Members are not always correct.

What we see here are alot of people "asking" but never taking the correct advice given.....to come back & post "why is this happening to my tank / livestock."

Get uptight all you want & say peeps don't want to help....but members gave advice here, as well as all your other threads. Some keep it straight to the point because that's how some "listen".
Take it for what it's worth.

hey dont get disouraged by negative post.feel free to post these questions the only dumb questions is the one you dont ask.alot of people who dont know nothing about saltwater setups always brings up the table salt question,no matter how dumb you may think the question is posted anyway somebody will have an answer for you and it wont be so negative.:D

And the dumb questions keep some people entertained too :lol2:..

Post away and eventually someone will agree with the answer you might have in mind and give you the courage to do what you want, regardless right or wrong :D...

I can't agree anymore. Ima sound mean to you but ima be real that was just a stupid question to ask IMO. Do you actually think the ocean has just NaCl in it. Its just ignorant if you can't make it to petland for some Marine Salt maybe you shouldnt have any pets no dogs, cats, turtles, or a rock. This in no way shape or form entertained me.
There is not even any versus in this. This is not street fighter. The two cannot be compared. Please save up for those school books oh wait common sense can't be taught I forgot. Remain ignorant or do the right thing other wise your just sacrificing those animals lives and your money. Oh and lights should have been at the top of that reef wishlist otherwise your just making a bland tasting soup. Yuk needs some pepper. :lol2:

As for that picture devious. I must get the artists name and I must obtain a copy so I could frame it.I'm serious you better read this post. :lol2: . I love that picture its adorable. and if your the artist then never mind :lol2:

Headless ..none of the guysare a bashing you here ,theya re simply tryna give you sure advice ,butit seems that is not what you want to hear.

There is 1000+ if not 5000+ yrs of reefing experiance on this board ,no one here will steer you in the worng direction. If you ask a question that is not to your liking doesnt mean they are saying negative things .

Remember ,asking a question on a publilc board will give you either 100 right anwsers or a 100 wrong one ,its up to you to differ which is best for you .Trust me .My tank has come along way and so have many others asking and taking advice from Dean and phil and MR

this is an expensive hobby ,,i dont care which corners you try to cut ,there is no way around it

.Reef salt is actually cheaper then reg salt .

Now to the research. If you are getting into t he hobby ,research is the key to success .the more you read and learn ,the less problems youll have later.

Good luck ,dont get mad at answers ,youll have plenty to get mad at later in the hobby save your energy LOL

Good luck

I have posted a number of times on the beginners forum, and more than a few times I have challenged other members for what I thought were negative posts to a simple question. In your case though, I see a guy who is just trying to find negative responses to a question that was answered immediately.
This hobby requires a number of things, the most important is an interest in the details of how a SW aquarium works, I mean water chemistry, filtration etc. The most successful reefer is the person who looks for answers in a number of places, like books (I reccomend Julian sprungs "reef aquarium Vol.3 as the most up to date reference) as well as the internet (wetweb media is a great resource) Instead of just blindly posting any question that comes into your head then getting upset when you dont like the answer.
I think for most people here its not that you asked the question it was the attitude you took to the answers.
Reefing is an expensive hobby, but it doesnt have to be as expensive as some people make out. knowledge is the only way to offset some of the costs, once you have a good working knowledge of how something works you can work out ways of replicating it cheaper. The key here is to get serious, buy a couple of books and start reading, its the only way you'll everbe a sucessful reefer, If you cant afford to go out and get a book then you dont have enough time or money to dedicate to this hobby.

I guess a lot of us here can just see a lot of dead livestock and would rather you took some time to learn what your doing or just dont start at all.
