Hi guys,

I found a dead snail on the floor this morning. The snail was from my planted fresh water tank and it has tank hood too.

I was wondering whether or not I will have the same problem with my SW snail... And my reef tank does't even have any cover..

Any idea?

Thanks

Some species of SW snails are reported to climb above the water level. This may be due to their natural habitat, where tides may leave them 'stranded' above water. Without knowing EXACTLY which snails you have, a guess shouldn't be ventured as to what yours will do.

Alright, I will let you guys know what snails I will have in couple of weeks.

Thanks

I've never seen a SW snail commit snail-i-cide.

I now have some rockwork that breaks the water level.
The snails will climb out of the water and hang out, but they
always climb back into the water.

i just had a cerith try to commit snail-icide. i have an aquapod, and had the stock hood until saturday when i upgraded to the sunpod. i did buy the glass cover for the tank, but it doesn't cover the whole thing. fortunately the snail was still alive. my son found him and put him back in the tank and he said he was moving around immediately, so no apparant harm done, but i just fit a plastic rim across the back to make sure it doesn't happen again. it may not be common, but it happened to me.

It happened to you means it could happen to anyone else.

Now I can install a cover on my 20g because I have a light that its four legs sit on edge of my tank.

Also I heard reef tank needs a good oxygen exchange. It's a bad idea to cover the top of the tank. The PH will go down with poor air circulation too.

What should I do then?
