Happy New Year everyone! I wish everyone have a happy healthy new year and good luck with your fish tanks. :lol2:

What type of salt mix should I use? I've seen there are several different types of salt available in the LFS. which one is the best?

The marine master test kit tests up to 10 different parameters of the water and it is for sale for $60 at Drs. Smith and Foster. Are they good?

A lot of people on the board use Instant Ocean or Instant Ocean Reef Crystals. I'm going to use IO(Instant Ocean) on my new tank.

I wouldn't get one of those all in one kits for testing. Like Dean? said on your other thread, get the cheaper test for things you're only going to need during the cycle such as ammonia and nitrite. Then invest in better test kits such as Salifert for nitrate, alk, and calcium.

As you gain more knowledge through all your readings, you are going to find that salt really becomes a personal preference. Everyone has their own reasons for using a particular brand.

Me, I use Reef Crystals, never had any issues.
