Babe88,
Sorry one of them died. Have you tried to buy a fake anemone similar in color to the one they had before? See if that works, sometimes the separation anxiety is alot for them to bear. Also are they wild caught or tank bred. I have tank bred clowns and no problems with them at all.

Agree 100%. Deep asked already but I did not see an answer. Where did you get them?

I got them from a local fish store in Brooklyn. Customers there cracked up when I asked for a fake anemone. They asked me where do I get the idea to buy a fake anemone. I did not want to start a fight so I do not want to tell them.

A guy who frequent there, gave me a real green one and my fish go right at it and rub his body over it. The fish seems very happy to see the green anemone. Finally, it seems going the right direction.:inlove:

Thank you for all the help.

I want to tell you how happy I am. My fish finally gets a big stomach and swim around.:tongue1: He is eating my flakes and bring shrimp meat to the anemone. Do they talk to each other in some way? How does the fish know the anemone like shrimp?

It's called instinct.

What type of anemone is it? Do you have the right water parameters, flow, lighting etc to sustain that anemone's life for an extended period of time?

When an anemone starts to die it goes quick and can foul a tank quicker. Usually very little survives.

I have a tank, kinfe to cut the table shrimp, a light, a filter, an plastic ring that the guy called it a house for the anemone. What else do I need? I read from other sites that they are more or less all I need.

Green with purple tips. Sometimes it will bulge up when the light is on. My mom said the water is OK. I trust her. She keep fish since she is a kid.

The guy who gave me the anemone told me to keep an eye on the anemone to see if it walks away from the plastic tube and hide under the rock and that I should check if the anemone's body is wrinkling. If it wrinkles, that's not a good sign. So far, the aneomne has been very fat and curl up when the fish bring it meals.

I have a power head, no protein skimmer, a hang on filter and the light is a coralite. All these have been here as old as the tank.

One light is white and the other one is half white half blue. I'll ask mom when she's home what lights are those.

Bye, dinner's here.

I feel so sorry for your lost. I think you have a CORALIFE PC light but you should also state the wattage and the conditions of the bulbs like how long have they been used. I guess your mom can tell you better than me.

Babe88, let me tag along in this thread because I also what to know the proper environment for keeping anemone.

I have learned some of the "don'ts" in this thread but can someone tell me what's the proper equipment and conditions for keeping an anemone?

Conditions for anemones

Although anemones are easily available and relatively inexpensive, they are amongst the hardest of the commonly available reef animals to keep. Much harder than most soft corals and large polyp corals. Certainly much harder than any fish. Some people don't think they should be kept at all because of their low survival rate.

They need pristine water, a lot of movement, and intense (probably metal halide) lighting. I have kept them under PCs in the past, but that was only for a year or so before I had to break down my tank.

So I would say that you need a relatively large tank (for stable water), a good skimmer, a RO system, something like 8-10 watts of light per gallon (this is a rough way to gauge lighting; some think it's not terribly useful), and a willingness to test and change water regularly.

Just wants to thank everyone for your the info. and support. My clown and the anemone are doing very good. The fish would come to my hands during feeding and share with the anemone. Both are getting fat.

The light I have is power compact Coralife 130W light.

Question: My friend will give me a small piece of SPS but my mom says don't keep SPS and it's way harder than anemone. What's your opinion.

I wish i had a mom like yours. that way i would never have to know anything about performing water tests and just enjoy a reef tank :(
