Yeah I think I'm going to follow Albert's lead on this one. I keep my photo period early so that I can see the tank on weekends when I'm home. Maybe I see it lit for an hour each day. If I had them turn on in the afternoon and stay on late I'd get to see them for an hour each and every day.

Pshht. I'm changing my light period.

AAARRRRGGGHHHH - have to service AC unit, apt is getting too warm!!!!!

Everybody looks okay but my redlip blenny, who is looking VERY pale... have a fan pointed at the tank, will get AC serviced VERY soon and getting ready to float triple-bagged cold stuff in the tank... Keeping my fingers crossed!

The heat of the day is over, anyway, so the temp should go down overnight... has already gone down some...

floating frozen soup in the tank now - temp down to 82.... (I love/hate summer!) can't wait to get the 75 gal with sump up and running. so much easier to keep it cool!

Now I'm thinking that the best thing I brought was a chiller from Drfoster's.
Keeps my temp within 1-2 degrees of my setting.
Brought the 1/10 hp for my 58g + 20g sump running 2x 175mhs.

Now thinking back I would not start up a reef tank without a chiller.

I never put a chiller high on my list of must-haves (and maybe that was a mistake...) the AC is now working, so all's well again - just hope no irreperable damage was done yesterday. Everybody looks okay now.

and truth be told, my cats are much happier now, too!

(so am I!)

1st pic is a good oll AC ,Keep your room and tank cool during those hot summer days .Not to mention you will enjoy the cold room as well
Cost of this ,Priceless at 110 degree weather and 100% humidity

agree 100% :D thats the 1st pic on the 1st post ,AC = priceless excluding the electric bill :lol2:

My temp is hovering about 82 more or less. 2/3 of my lights turn off at 82, and goes back on in 20 minutes if its below 82. If that last 1/3 makes it go above 83, then all lights turn off which hasn't happened yet.
I love my ACjr

Guys/gals. The heat in my 155 reef is holding at 80 with all 4 - 4" IceCap fans in canopy & hood, and a clip on over the sump. Should I set my heaters at 80 in order to keep the temp stable? I cannot afford a chiller at this point, and I've yet to get my A/C electrical line installed due to various reasons. The temp in the room is comfortable to the humans, as I live two blocks from the beach with great cross breezes coming through my windows.
My thinking is that as long as the tank does not go above 80 for the reef I am OK. If I am wrong please do not hesitate to holla out.

The fw fo & the sw fowlr are holding at 82, the fish seem fine. No signs of distress.

I keep my heater a little lower than 80 in the summer. I go by what my high temp is usually at. Until now, for the last month my high has been 78 so I kept the heater at 75. If you're high is 82 I'd keep it at 78 but that's me other might have other suggestions.

well my tank hit 84 last night.....in the summer time my heater is unplugged..but i guess with the new a/c being installed i'll have to set accordingly....i had a huge vornado fan blowing into the sump and no change in temp was occuring...so i put fan to blow across the top of the tank and it dropped the temp down to 82....I had no signs of distress...I have to get a darn clip on fan for sump....

Get a controller too, it will save you some headaches. My RK2 turns off my lights and heater if the temp gets too high and turns on my fan to cool the tank. Room AC will help, The controller also prevents problems if the internal thermostat in thew heater breaks and stays on heating your tank to a high level.
