I have a canon rebel xs. i can't seem to really capture the pictures to get crisp detailed shots. does anyone have this camera? and if so what would be a good lens/ setting to use. also there is a uv lens on there already. thanks.

i use the same lens and the best way to capture good shots is to use a stand, and the manually control the shutter speed, remember that u can always adjust the brightness as well as color in adobe light room, etc. all pictures are edited its not a simply point-shoot-print. also if u turn the pumps off it helps with the clarity. also if u dont want to mess too much with the shutter speed u can just raise the iso to like greater then 600

hope this helps.

The lens is also key to taking good pictures. You will be able to snap some good pics with the stock lens but it also depends on what your trying to accomplish. If your trying to take macro shots with it its not going to happen with the stock lense that comes with it. The lense has a limit to what it can do and once you figure out what you want to do with your camera and your pictures then people can recommend lenses. A new lense thats quicker is going to get clearer crisper shots easier but its also going to run you 200-1000$ for a new lense that's worth buying. The majority of lenses in the 50-150$ range aren't worth it so just save some $$ and buy the better ones.

Other than that its all about using a tripod and adjusting the settings. There is no basic setting, its all about being able to control the shutter speed, iso, and other things from a shot to shot basis. Be ready to snap a good 10-20 shots of one thing before you get a good descent pic.

Or, use an external flash and bounce the light from the ceiling, that works wonders:)

hmmm i never tried that..guess i will now! i had a hood before so that was part of the reason i never tried it/even considered it, but the hood is no more, so i know what im doing after work! :birthday:

thanks for the suggestion!

i was googling and looking around for camera info and taking pictures a while ago. One guy had 2 of the beginner basics books on his website, the others I read off google books or barns n noble or something. I don't have the info anymore on where they were, i was randomly looking through the internet and found them, and it took me a while before i did find them.
