First time in New Orleans this past weekend. Lots of fun! Awesome food, Cochon by Donald Link is a must! Healthy amount of spirits, French Quarters - enough said. Casino, not Vegas, only Harrahs - I'll take it! Random shots I took wandering around the city... heavily post processed with Lightroom and Topaz Adjust. Feel free to critique...

Nice pics! is this the lens you use with your Nikon D300,AF-S DX NIKKOR 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED? Somepeople don't like the fish eye look but I do, very nice shot. I especially like the one with the guy holding the green can, did you use a lightroom preset for that effect?

Thanks! I used a Nikon D300 w/ 28-70mm f/2.8 AFS for the guy with the bucket. The rest was shot with a Tokina 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 borrowed from a friend. I tried to rent a Nikon 10.5mm before I flew, but Adorama didn't have any in stock. No presets, HDR/heavy saturation was done by Topaz Adjust. http://www.topazlabs.com/adjust/

I'm starting to like Topaz more and more lately. Thanks Steve but you have to have more pics. I don't believe for one minute that you carried the camera all the way down there to only snap 3-4 pics :irked:

I have more... but not happy with a lot of them. I hate looking at my own pictures... is it only me?

100years old . I'm in the process of putting together some kind of album.
I feel the same way sometimes with pics. What you have to do is just surf Flickr or Nikonians etc... to see what everyone else is uploading and if that doesn't help it's time to give me the D300 :lol2:

You're welcome. I'll sift through my other shots to see if any others are worthwhile. Wife and I had friends attending the American Thoracic Society conference, and we just tagged along since we never been to NOLA. Also, I've always wanted to visit the Georgia Aquarium, but didn't know what else to do in Atlanta besides that... so we figured we make a little trip out of it.

Oh quick plug for anyone visiting NOLA for the first time. Definitely recommend these folks. Small and local operation, this guy knows his NOLA history, very personable and funny. You can read more reviews of him and his small business on NYTimes. http://confederacyofcruisers.com/

Still waiting friend... still waiting. :tongue1:

Let me score a D700... and the D300 is yours!

Great City, I was there two years ago and had an awesome time. It is a real shame that they are going to have a whole new set of problems there, especially since they are still in the process of recovering from Katrina.
