i used to have these cause i wanted a lawn look in front of the tank, kinda like a plant aquarium. but then it overgrew the tank n became a messy looking. so i teared it out n dump it. it also act as a nutrient trap.
Yes, it does act as a detritus trap once overgrown, but that's when you know it's time to rip some out.. It grew so quick, that is what attracted me to it.. The nutrient export is unrivaled in my opinion.. I just have it in my sump now.. But I change my tank up every couple of months anyway...
Don't know... I have a natureef denitrifier, they are always too low for a test kit to pick up.. And now since I've started using my phosphate option on the denitrifier it grows very slow..
Great, the flow needs to be high on it for it to color up faster.. It's starting to really get color.. What do you think about the flow and lighting?? I have it mid way up in the tank..
