...with my new Coris gaimard (yellowtail coris).
Picked him up at Aquatic Obsessions in NJ today. Will has some really nice fish & corals at his store!
I had planned on putting him in the tank when my lights went out but couldn't resist seeing him under the MH's. Nobody picked on him and I fed the tank right after introducing him...and he happily ate with the other fish.
Since I (probably...) overfeed my tank, and my shrimp are on the large size now, I'm hoping he will not try & make a snack of them.

He's tucked himself into the sandbed for the night...I'll try & get better pics tomorrow. (still fighting those microbubbles)

Even he likes looking at himself :)

such an ugly fish Kathy...... You need to remove it and place it directly into......My Tank! :wink1:

Really nice fish! Do the blue highlights glow like that all the time?

Sorry Tony, you'll have to pry him from my stone cold dead hands..lol.
Those blue dots are the most unbelievable color (so far anyway :)) I think the other fish were mesmerized by them. I sure am.
Need to get better pics where his 'pink' also stands out.

nycsicktank - min tank size is 100.. but I think that is pushing it. Book says 13.7" maximum size. Nose to tail he's about 4 1/2" long now. I won't be surprised if there is an upgrade in my future.

Ming & Oriol- thanks ;)

I have that exact fish in my 110 high reef for about 4 mos. and it never even approaches my 2 medium sized cleaner shrimp. He swims around messing with the shells and hermits a little but thats it! Ive found him to be a model reef citizen.

I remember for the first week or so he seemed to not come out of his burrow to mid-day so if this happens dont be alarmed, because he will be our like a wildman in no time

Thanks for the info JL!
I was surprised that he didn't dive under the sand as soon as I put him into the tank. He looked around and then starting checking things out. My Exquisite started swimming with him and he didn't seem to mind at all. And yes, he's quick already but stops every now & then to pose for pictures:flirt:

My recently added Christmas Wrasse is still on a different day/night cycle and doesn't appear til 4 PM or so. My Dusky is always the first guy up and first to 'bed' at about 6 PM.
My Yellow Coris doesn't get up at 1 or 2 PM every day. Now there is a fish I admire! :)

This guy can do what he pleases, as long as I'm there with the camera ready! lol

Nice fish kathyc.. I have one and he is a beautiful fish. He'll move small rocks around looking for food. I love this fish , he has great color and the blue spots really stand out.

Kathy

does he go after the hermits? Under Water Creations has two of them in stock and they are really awsome fishes. Good luck with them.

Thanks guys & gals!

nyaux.. my Dusky Wrasse is forever looking under any small or loose rocks for a snack. I try & keep most everything glued down. If he starts moving other things, I'll mount them to bigger rocks to slow him down :Yikes:

does he go after the hermits?
Croxx - Book says yes, but I'm hoping to discourage that by tasty feedings to keep him happy. I have other wrasses that supposedly do, but my hermit & snail population are still hanging in there!

Steve..no not even you :) lol

Great looking fish Kathy, but the get very big ( close to 15") and are generally not considered reef safe mainly because they move stuff around causing avalanches, crushing and flipping over corals etc. Smaller motile inverts are at risk too.
Good luck with him.

Thanks Randy. I knew when I bought him but am willing to take the chance. I'm a big believer in glue due to my other fish. I'll take a fresh look at my smaller rocks, just in case.
Any idea how fast they grow..need to figure out when I'll need a bigger tank.
This current 120 is so...full...already! :spin:
