I can't compete with the beautiful pictures of the tanks in this forum since all I have is a 10 gallon set up. But I would like to show off my fishes.
I have a Spotted Cardinal and a Clown Goby for almost 4 years. My recent acquisitions are a Neon Goby, a Rainfordi Goby and a Firefish Goby.
Sounds crowded for a 10 gallon but these are really small fish and very peaceful. Up until April I had a pair of neon gobies (1 year) and a royal gramma (2 years) together with the Cardinal and Clown Goby and had no problems. The Gramma was the boss of the tank but it seemed to be working ok. Then I got some frags from 3 different sources and all of a sudden I had ick in the tank. I lost the pair of Neons and the Gramma but managed to save the Clown goby and the Cardinal. So I wanted to replace the 3 lost fish. I wanted a firefish and a neon but was not sure about the third one.
I got a Neon Goby (in a group by at MR) and it introduced ick again but I did not lose any fish this time. Both times I used copper in a hospital tank and let the 10 gallon free of fish for 4 weeks. Then I got a Bi Color Blenny through the 'for sale' forum in MR. I decided it was too big and sold it (through MR) a month later and then got the Rainfordi when I saw it while visiting an LFS by avenue Y. I am concerned as to how long I can keep it since it eats nothing other than sifting sand and a 10 gallon just does not have enough critters to support this situation for too long. He shows no interest in live brine shrimp even though all the other fish go crazy when I put them in the tank. Then this week I got a firefish with really fine coloring. Besides the fish I have some mushrooms and candy canes. Also have a few blue legged hermits which I am regretting. I knew I was taking a chance but now I lost my 4 nessarius snails. I have 4 astreas and three keyhole limpets, make that 2 one just died. I have the limpets for about 2 years and lately saw 3 babies. I used to have lots of micro stars (even sold bunches of them) but do not see them any more. Lots of coraline on the glass but hardly any on the rocks.
A 10 Gallon does work if you are consistent with the maintenance.
