I am going to buy a new camera within a day or two. I have decided (i think) on the Canon XT. I was looking at XTi but dont need to spend the xtra cash just for 10MP. It has a couple other things but i will never use them.

Now for my main question. I know that i need some sort of MACRO lens.
Which one do i have to look for. I saw a lot of people post about 100mm lens but i have no clue what i should really get.

And i also found this
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/87491-REG/Canon_2820A002_58mm_250D_Close_up_Lens.html

what is it??? It is just an addon, but will that take the place of a Macro lens for now, so that i dont have to spend another $400 on a lens.

Like building a reef tank, photography is another hobby where you get what you spend. That little add-on will work (sort of), but it will in no way take the place of a proper macro lens. When I first got into the photography hobby, I wanted a fish-eye lens so I bought one of the attachments off of ebay. It works okay, but it's nowhere near as cool as my friends proper fisheye lens that I played with. I should have put the fifty bucks I spent on the attachment in a jar to be put towards the proper lens.

Ok, so the lens adapter is out. That is what i was kinda thinking. What lens would you recommend meaning the mm of the lens. I have no idea what it really means some have a range some have one measurement. What would you say would be the best for me?

like lissa said, photography is like reefing. if you dont get the right equipment now, youll upgrade later and end up wasting $$$. just save up for a good lens instead of rushing to get a macro on your camera. you can always use the stock lens in the meantime
