I finally got a large Mystery Wrasse on Saturday from liveaquaria Diver's Den... Man, this thing is awesome. I've never seen an adult Mystery Wrasse display those distinctive white bars down the body... only the smaller ones, but this one's got his stripes showing at all times. Its fins are also covered with blue and red sparkles... pretty friggin cool.

I guess there's a difference between the Mystery Wrasses from Vanuatu and Marshall Island??? I was wondering why liveaquaria even labelled it Vanuatu Mystery Wrasse. I remember someone telling me that the ones closer to Australia were more colorful, but I thought it was B/S. Now I'm kinda believing it.

Does anyone know if there's any truth to this?

Here's a crappy pic from my camera phone. I'll update with some better pix later on. (page 2)

the marshalls island mysteries are more red and have less of the white stripes (less brighter? its early i can't think straight)

But yeah the marshalls island ones aren't as colorful on the body as far as the white goes but still a beautiful fish.

Nice buy =0) lets get some close up pics. Hows the coloration on the head? it full yellow colored or faded a little?

Thanks guys. I broke down my 20 last night. I transferred all my SPS to the 120 at my dad's church. I call it a FOWLR... because I'm pretty sure it'll eventually lead to it (b/c of the Clown Trigger), but for now it's actually looking very much like a bare bottom reef tank... its looking good.

The juvi clown trigger doesn't seem to bother anything. He just swims back and forth, in and out of the rock work.

The Mystery Wrasse seems very mean... I think he's still adjusting to aquarium life. When he goes after food, it's like he's hunting as if it were a matter of life or death.

The pair of Black percs seem to be fine with the Clown trigger. Actually they seem to team up whenever the trigger swims by.

And D, yeah that's the same yellow tang. She came down with a bit of ich, but 3 days of garlic and she's clean on the outside.

I'll definitely take some pictures over the weekend.

I think the Mystery will be putting a whoopin' on the other wrasses in the tank, depending on the size... and will be having a feast on any shrimp in the tank, also depending on the size of the Mystery Wrasse.

My Mystery Wrasse steals food right out of the Clown Trigger's mouth! Very bold... but I think that it's because he is an adult sized Mystery Wrasse. I've read the older the Mystery Wrasse, the bolder they become.
I remember when I had a smaller Mystery Wrasse in my 90, along with a Juvi Clown Trigger... it would hide from the Trigger all day long, but chase the crap out of my Cryptic Sixline.

Hope that helps!
