My one of my kids dropped my Sony Cybershot SC-P73 and broke the LCD screen. Should I bother getting it fixed? I've only had the camera for about 3 months.

AFAIK, those LCD screens are rarely fixable, and the replacement cost is usually most of the value of the device. (my experience with laptop LCDs and cellphone LCDs).

You could always take it to best buy or a camera store and get an estimate...

I'd be concerned the drop caused a misalignment of the CCD as well. My guess is the fix will be more expensive then it's worth :?

I figure I will at lest get it chercked out. If I can get it fixed for less then half the cost of a new one then I will get it fixed if not I will have to save for a new one. Actually I have to pay this one off first then save for a new one.

Good new on the camera. Seems it still is functional as taking pictures. Just the LED screen is out. I still have not had the time to take it in to get checked. All the house hunting and stuff has taken a lot of my time.

I broke my LCD on my Sony DCS707 while riding a wheelie on my sportbike (it was in the trunk) and I thought I was dead sending it in to them for repair. I got a call saying that they would replace the entire camera instead of "repairing" the damage and it only cost me $150.00. Shows what the mark up is in their items as I paid over $800 for the camera. I say send it in and have them repair it. I got a new unit that had a warranty.

Did you send it to sony, or to the place you bought it. For 150 I would get it fixed.
